Two days after rejecting
the implementation of new format of common entrance examination at a senate
meeting held at the institute, IIT Kanpur faculty has now asked Prime Minister
Manmohan Singh for his direct and immediate intervention into the matter
and asked him to cancel JEE.
Reportedly IIT Kanpur Faculty Forum has written a letter to Prime Minister urging to use his good offices to sort out the issue at the earliest and to cancel the order of the proposed Joint Entrance Examination that Ministry of Human Resources Development is likely to implement.
The letter also mentioned that any un-necessary changes to the current format of IIT JEE can seriously damage the prestige and respect of IITs across the world.
